Ok what type of graph is a reciprocal function

For example a quadratic function is a parabola

a reciprical function has a weird shape, im not sure how you would describe it.

Recriprocal functions are hyperbolas (or hyperbolae?).

The canonical hyperbola (which you can use to make any other hyperbola by transforming it) takes the form x²/A² - y²/B² = 1.
