Actually, there is no pattern in this sequence. Here you can read more about it: Click here

Also, check out The online encyclopedia of integer sequences

guess I'm dumb too cause I don't see a pattern either.

Interesting. Where can I read up on this?

Re: Lost show 4 8 15 16 23 42

But I'm not sure if it proves anything, devante, take any random sequence of numbers and you can create that pattern below it. Or start with 3 and the buttom and their are more then one ways to build upon it. I just cranked this one out:

13 2  0 4 4 8
11 2  4 0 4
9  2  4 4
7  2  0
5  2
3

but if the exact number sequence "4, 8, 16, 16, 23, 42" was part of his theorem then then that must be where it came from.

Re: Lost show 4 8 15 16 23 42

If you expand the triangle rightward and add a 3 on the new bottom and work backwards from the new bottom 3 up to the top, then you get these possible numbers for the next number:
(They are all 6 apart)
43/49/55/61/67/73/79/85/91
Also numbers less than 42 work like 41/35/29/23/17/11/5
Did you want a 3 again on the new bottom number below the last 3?

It can be a pattern , if you want .  Solve the equation with  6th power.

You don't even need the 6th power in there. A 5th one will do nicely.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
