Cries of the river

From mountains to seas, hear it cry
a single white thread that mourns
for when you hear the sadness and sorrow
a whole new picture is drawn

for years and decades it withers
losing hope every single day
for at least some sign of gratitude
or else someday they'll pay

both men and women, children too
laughs under the moonlit moor
but they do not realise what lies beneath
justlike in the mystical lore

a great water beast, in silence
who strikes under the dark red moon
a great water beast, in silence
who just might attack quite soon

sometimes it drags you underneath
leading you to a watery grave
after years of sadness and sorrow
those who challenge, are really quite brave

so when you hear the river cry
apologise and thank it
for without it, you cant at all
douse the fire that you have lit
