Why do you use 2 instead of t? At school and in my studies I've always used 7... oh well, everyone has their own unique 1337speech I guess.

Because they both sound like each other. There are classes for 1337? :\
I occasionally use '7' for 't', but it depends on if I think people will be able to tell what I am trying to say.
