Re: Speed Math

Good idea! I'll post my scores when I get on another computer than this laptop smile (bad mouse, bad scores)

Re: Speed Math

Very nice. I see no bugs, and t his would be very useful for children and teachers.

Re: Speed Math

Bug:

Start any test.  Click on any of the numbers as fast as you can.  You will get an average somewhere around 1 per second even though you did all 10 questions in about 1 second.

One time, I got it to say average is 12 seconds, but have been unable to repeat it.

I believe any and all bugs of this nature will go away if you ignore all clicks before the dice stop rolling.

0.782 big_smile (Edit: In Add 2, that is.)

I agree with Toast, this is a very fun game. I think the majority of my time was due to my reaction time and mouse dexterity rather than mental agility though. I bet I could get it a lot faster if I could type answers instead.

It took me a while to work out that 'Multiply 4' was actually (A+B)*(C+D), rather than ABCD.

Re: Speed Math

mathsy: what is an "elegant" way of showing (a+b) x (c+d) ? Maybe put a box under each one?

I agree with Patrick, please say what you played (Add 2, Add 4, or whatever).

Re: Speed Math

Let's just assume these scores are all Add 2 because that seems to be the default.

Re: Speed Math

Update: Changed "Multiply 2" to "1 Times 1", etc to hopefully make it clearer. May have made it more confusing though.

I fixed the timing thing that Ricky found. Please retest to see if I really did fix it smile

And i put the name of the game on the little summary.

(You may need to refresh your browser to see the new version)

Now that I have some nice spinning dice, what other cool games could I make with them?

Re: Speed Math

I tried out Ricky's fast click bug, and I couldn't get it to work, so that presumably means it's been fixed. I found one of my own though. If you click on one of the answers, then move the mouse of the answer with the button still held down, then the answer will stay highlighted when you unclick. It's fairly trivial though, and it doesn't affect gameplay.

I find that the Add 2 game is a lot simpler not just because the arithmetic is easier, but also because the answers always stay the same. With the others, you need to first work out the answer and then find it amongst the 12 options.

I'm not sure what games could be made with the cool spinny dice that wouldn't just be clones of games already out there. There are lots of games that you could make, like Yachtzee or Dice Wars, but they're already on the internet so there wouldn't be much point. Maybe there's some way of incorporating them into some aspect of the MacArthur game?
