Re: Given the opportunity...Of course... Not a doubt, why wouldn't I? Since I don't believe in any form of life after death, I'd be happy to live forever. #3 2006-11-16 09:03:59
Re: Given the opportunity...Absolutely not - life would get boring, then it would get really boring, then it would get so boring it'd make me stressed, and it'd be no fun. The thought of existing forever in an afterlife makes me uncumfortable, I prefer to think that when we die, we just die, and that's it. Bad speling makes me [sic] #4 2006-11-16 09:21:34
Re: Given the opportunity...My first inclination is to say no but it really depends on some other things. Am I staying in good physical and mental health or am I going to spend eternity in a nursing home (I'd chose hell first!)? And how about my family and friends? Are they living forever or are they dying at a normal age? #5 2006-11-16 10:15:09
Re: Given the opportunity...I think living forever is a great idea! Yes there would be periods of boredom, but the brain is always chucking out old memories, so I could re-read books in a 100 years and they would seem like new! Re: Given the opportunity...I agree with Dross. Living for a very long time is fine, but I wouldn't want to live forever. No matter what you do, if you live forever then there will eventually come a time when you have done everything so many times that everything is boring. Being bored is especially boring, which compounds the problem to no end. Why did the vector cross the road? It wanted to be normal. #9 2006-11-16 13:46:50
Re: Given the opportunity...I would live for as long as humanity existed. "In the real world, this would be a problem. But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist. So we'll go ahead and do that now..." #10 2006-11-17 00:04:48
Re: Given the opportunity...But as long as you were living, you would exist, meaning humanity still existed, meaning you would keep living, meaning you would keep existing, meaning... etc. Why did the vector cross the road? It wanted to be normal. #11 2006-11-17 02:00:30
Re: Given the opportunity...Hmmm, I guess 'forever' is a very unrealistic concept. By living forever I meant having your conciousness intact in one way or another forever. #12 2006-11-17 02:05:40

Re: Given the opportunity...
Do you really consider me humanity? Wow, thanks for the complement. "In the real world, this would be a problem. But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist. So we'll go ahead and do that now..." #17 2006-11-18 17:06:47

Re: Given the opportunity...I'd be like the Highlander, an Immortal! Only death by decapitation. I'd be able to spend my time researching everything, knowing things and then being totally superior. I'd also learn how to wield a sword properly and battle against my enemy Immortals. THERE CAN ON~LY BE ONE! Boy let me tell you what: I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too. And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you. |
