Re: riddle

Something like "Will you answer this with a lie?"

Probably "is every simply connected closed 3-manifold homeomorphic to the 3-sphere S[sup]3[/sup]?"

Re: riddle

Wouldn't any question with an obvious answer work?

Is the sky blue?
Do you have 10 fingers?
Is your hair [insert hair color]?
Do you have two eyes?
Does the kernel of a homomorphism between two cyclic groups of the same order contain only one element?
etc.

Hah!  I didn't realize when I first read this, but that's the poincare conjecture, right?  Nicely done.

Re: riddle

Yeah, it's Poincaré. I like your last question too. And your new avatar, have you been to that place in person to take the photo or did you get it off of the internet?

You know guys, it's not a lie if he thinks it's true. Of course, this depends on your definition of the term. In my view, a lie is telling false information in order to deceive someone. What if the guy is blind and has never heard of the sky being blue? Ok, I'm just making life hard, of course obvious questions(such as the Poincaré conjecture) should satisfy this riddle.

Re: riddle

Took it myself, today.

And as for my last question, it's equivalent to, "Is an isomorphic map 1-1?"  I was trying for a really long an complex question that had a simple answer, but after a few seconds of thinking, I just decided to make a really simple question sound complex.  It was a shortcut, so to speak.

1.scott could be colour blind
2. he might of lost a finger (dont know how)
3.he might be bald
4. 1 might nto work or be a glass eye
5.i have no idea what that means:D

well he could also be a ghost or a wraith tongue
and couldnt he answer "I dont know" on that question, since ben cant actually be sure if scott knows if he is alive or dead...

Re: riddle

This riddle isn't exactly clear...is Scott forced to lie or to try and find a way out of the question?

Correction: Zhylliolom was talking to Ricky.

Anyway, I think this ("Does the kernel of a homomorphism between two cyclic groups of the same order contain only one element?") would work, but I'm unsure.
