Maybe someone else can explain this? is there any Hard Math proof for the preference for the number 37 ? or is it all a bit of luck! ?

Re: Why is this number everywhere? 37 ?

Hi

Interesting video.  i went to an online random number generator and ran it for a number between 1 and 100. I got 57. Did it again and got 80.

The street guy and the magician bias the choice by emphasing strongly that the choice must be random. But humans don't have an inbuilt random generator. So they think about it and unconsciously avoid some numbers.  Here's the ones they avoid:

Anything that ends in a 0
anythng even
anything that ends in 5
anything that's in a times table.

I can see why people are pushed towards numbers with a 3 and/or 7 in them.

Collecting things that have 37 on them is nothing. You could do that for any number.  There's no house numbered 37 in my road because the numbers don't go up that far.

There's also no 13 because the sales team were worried that people wouldn't buy it as some people think 13 is unlucky.

(note: when adjusting the volume on my TV I used to avoid stopping on 13; but then I realised I was being silly and I've discovered 13 is the best volume level for me. smile )

The making choices analysis is interesting; I need to check that out for myself.

So is there anything in this? I think probably not but keep looking.

Yes it's very funny how a number can have kind of Mystical properties?

I remember some years ago when I was a bit green,I thought I could find an advantage with the frequency count of Lottery numbers, and boy did I get a surprise with the number 13,I found it was genuinely unlucky!?

Sure enough nothing has changed?...

Number 13 really IS found to be the Lottery's 'unluckiest' number...
