Exponent Addition Rule

If we multiply two factors with the same base, we keep the same base and simply add the exponents.

Say, a^4 • a^7 = a^(4 + 7) = a^11.

What if the exponents are variables?

Say, 5^(x + y) • 5^(2x + 3y).

I keep base 5 and add the exponents.

Yes?

So, 5^(x + y + 2x + 3y) = 5^(3x + 4y).

You say?

No middle ground when it comes to mathematics. We either like it or not.
