Converting sentences into word problems?

Barry has x computer games.sister an has three times as many.
How  would I convert int equation, if you know what I mean and thanks

hi Luba,

Welcome to the forum.

For this example the sister has three times as many so we write 3x for that.  Together they have x + 3x = 4x games.  If you are told they have 24 games, say, then 4x = 24 so x = 6.
