TabbyFile

I have been trying a free alternative to Windows File Explorer called "Tabbyfile". I like it because it is simply faster to use. "Minimalist" the developer calls it.

You can try it for yourself: http://www.tabbyware.com/node/10

The best thing: the guy has a forum, and responds to suggestions!

Re: TabbyFile

The site also features the 'tabbyCalc'.

Described: 'tabbyCalc is a minimalist windows desktop calculator & mathimatical [sic] expression evaluator'

Re: TabbyFile

Read the features, sounds interesting.
Do you still like it and are you still using it?
Does it seem reliable?
What are "thumbs.db" files doing all over my computer??

LOL, "thumbs.db" is Microsoft's thumbnail cache (hidden by windows explorer).

Re: TabbyFile

You can disable the creation of thumbs.db with a program called TweakUI (just search for it on google).  You can do tons of other stuff too, such as disble those stupid ballons that pop up over the taskbar saying things like "You are now connected to the internet" after you've been looking at websites for 5 minutes.

Re: TabbyFile

Thanks, figured it was MS database stuff, but didn't want to delete'm and break something in DOS window with "attrib" they are
set to +s or +h, can't remember.  I won't touch'm, but I will look into the TweakUI, thanks!

Re: TabbyFile

As a general rule, anything you can delete won't crash your computer by deleting.  But remember, I said general...
