### question about linear function form

Hi,

a linear function has the form  :

y = f(x)=b + mx

b is the vertical intercept, or value of y when x is zero.

what is the meaning of  " b is the vertical intercept"

can anyone give me an explanation please

for example,  y = 10 + mx
b = 10
what is it intercept?

The
-intercept is the point at which the line crosses the
-axis.

Since
, then the coordinates of the
-intercept are
. Or sometimes people just say that the
-intercept is
.
