He was a very strict disciplinarian. Remember, this was a long, long time ago and back then fathers were to be obeyed. The older someone got the more prestige he/she achieved. Today, it is just the opposite.

The people who come in here are not average people. They are above average and in many ways represent the hope of this species. The people I see when I look out the window are the average people. They do not respect their father or anyone else's.
