Re: Progression Into Mathematics, #1

No.A.P. First term =a : common difference=d  S_n={2a+(n-1)d}*n/2
O.K. I went through it again . It is G.P.in the problem. I have to test my eyes.

Re: Progression Into Mathematics, #1

Now the method stands corrected for G.P.
(5)sum of 1st 2011 terms=200
sum of next 2011 terms=380-200=180   R=180/200 =0.9
sum of next 2011 terms=180*0.9=162
Sum of first 6033 terms=200 +180+162=542

Re: Progression Into Mathematics, #1

That is correct.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Re: Progression Into Mathematics, #1

Bobbym, would you be fine with some adept calculus problems in my physics thread?

Re: Progression Into Mathematics, #1

Hi;

You want to post them there or me to try and solve them?

I will be developing a new thread.

Re: Progression Into Mathematics, #1

You can do that but as you already know I never work on physics problems any more. But there are several others in here who will work on them.

Re: Progression Into Mathematics, #1

At 96 one has physical problems ;not problems on physics.

Re: Progression Into Mathematics, #1

Just the opposite in my case.

It is for those who are at 96, not for you.

Re: Progression Into Mathematics, #1

Hmmm, you can believe that. I can not, nor will I try to convince you. It is not important what my age is and I am constantly amazed at people's reactions to it. Suffice it to say, due to many health techniques which were given to me by pappym's love of the east, I feel much younger that I am.

But back to the main part. I do not like physics and will not work on physics problems.
