Probability and Exponents

1. A bacteria doubles every 5 minutes. At 1 PM, a small amount of the bacteria  is put in a container(call it x.) By 5 PM the container is full of the bacteria. At what time was the container 1/4 full?
Is it 4:50?
2. At a student conference 6 students A ,B, C, D, E, and F were told to make different committees with the following restrictions
1) each committee is to contain EXACTLY 3 students.
2) Each student must belong to EXACTLY 2 committee,
3) No two committees can have more than 1 student in common, aka A and B cannot be together in 2 different committees.
How many committees should there be?
