fractions

Can you show me how to complete these problems.....the work involved

1.  3/4 is _____ to .75
a. <     b, >   c, =    d,  /




2.  .45 is ______ to 1/3
a. <     b. >    c. =    d.  /

1) Convert 3/4 into decimal, we will get 0.75. This equal to .75 Therefore the answers is c.

2) Convert 1/3 into decimal, we will get .3333..... , Therefore .45 > .3333.... Therefore the answer is b.

Or you can convert the decimal into a fraction.  Take the decimal, and put it over a 1 and 0's so that the number of 0's is the same as the number of decimal places.  For example:

0.75 is 75/100

0.33928 is 33928/100000

3/4 is nothing but 0.75. So, 3/4=0.75
1/3 is 0.3333333... which is lesser than 0.45. So, 0.45>0.333...
In case the division of fraction is confusing, you can have a look at this conversion of 3/4 as a decimal, and have it as a future reference for the division of decimals.
