I need help on this problem

Which one is correct?
    (tan x) ^ 2  ,      tan^2 x  and tanx^2.

BTW, you can see the the code that was used for each formula by clicking on the image. Just put that code between {math} and {/math} tags, but use [] instead of {}.

you must write:
