Complex number

√-20
= √20 i
= √4 x √5 i
= 2 x √5 i
= 2√5i

The textbook said the answer to this is √20i. did I misunderstand something?

Re: Complex number

Hi;

Your answer is correct and so is the books but it is not simplified.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
