Connections between Classical Musics and Mathematics

It's really odd that when I listen to something like Highland Cathedral I will do maths faster and more efficient. Does the same thing happen to you? Maybe like rock musics (I don't listen to any of them other that classicals)? I think musics help stimulate our brain to think more efficiently?

Hi chooipian;

I like total silence best but would prefer classical to brain splitting rock or rap.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

I agree with your brain splitting rock or rap part. I prefer classical, it's rather quite odd to hear a 14 year old these day saying so right?

Yes, I would say that you are probably not 14 and probably not human.

Re: Connections between Classical Musics and Mathematics

I don't think it makes a lot of difference for me, but sometimes I listen to classical music while doing some math or science work.

But seriously, harmonious sounds promote calm, clarity of thought. The rest being louder, discordant and having little pattern are probably better when strong physical action or even violence is called for. They are probably better therefore when going into battle.

I do not have much idea about western classical.

Try listening to Handel's water music and see, the conqu'ring here comes. And also you could try listening to Sir Edward Elgar's pop and circumstance. And also if you want something that is particularly more english, Scottish and welsh try watching videos of auntie b's proms

It's bbc

Pleasant is nice but silence is still better.
