Re: Everything

Yeah, that is unfortunate. Especially since on top of that people use their religion as an explanation for their actions.

Yes, they do. People tend to ruin anything they touch.

Of course it is impossible to know which is the oldest. But it does not really matter, since all religions (especially Hinduism) believe that no religion teaches the only way to salvation above all others, but that all genuine paths are facets of God's Light, deserving tolerance and understanding.

Hinduism is like Linux. There is no absolute agreement on its philosophy. No absolute organisation that governs it. No exact definitions. Evolution by community.

Wunderbar!

I do not know about the linux part but the rest sounds okay.

I like the license model of Hinduism

Re: Everything

Well, we've got the Vedas, Bhagavad Gita etc.

Here's a funny thing someone told me: Bible is considered a word, but other religion's texts are not.

Re: Everything

I mean when you google define Bible, there is a definition or when you type Bible, it does not appear as a spelling error.

Re: Everything

Well, we've got the Vedas, Bhagavad Gita etc.

But they do not have a license like:

By following the Vedas, Bhagavad Gita and similar stuff of Hinduism Inc., you hereby agree to
become a Hindu. You are not required to accept this license since you have not signed it, however
nothing else gives you the permission to read, follow or reproduce any of these works. Furthermore,
you agree not to modify reverse engineer the texts in anyway

Re: Everything

Isn't that true with all religions?

I like exploring multiple religions, because it gives a much broader view of everything

The Quran is another religious text, but I wouldn't say it is the "Bible" except that they both are religious texts.

Why do you need a EULA?

Re: Everything

Hindus have got an excellent EULA, it is like copyleft.

Re: Everything

The bible is considered as the word of God by Christians because we believe that God inspired the authors of the bible in what they wrote. Basically he used them to convey what he was saying. You might ask why he wouldn't just say it himself and cut us out of the equation. The answer would be that he wants to include us. It's really interesting to study the bible if you have time.

When ever I see a brand new new math problem, I want to solve it. Then I want to burn it. Then I want to rebuild it in a new, more streamlined way.

Re: Everything

The Bible is one of the religious texts I have read. I read the Bhagavad Gita and a few others (briefly) as well. It was a very enriching experience.
