Everything

Why we have a world to live in? A universe. What is the universe? Who created everything? Why nothing is something? Is time linear? Is... I have lots of questions...

I love this site! It's full of people like me big_smile

We have a world to live in because we have a world. Why you can't answer? XD

Re: Everything

I can't answer 1
2. An universe is one continuous fabric of space-time.
3. Define everything. Also tell me how did you figure out that everything was created?
4. nothing is not something
5. With respect to what? The concept of time varies from observer to observer.

Basically, it is 42

3) We can take as an axiom. Everybody knows the given answer.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

The immobile computer is incapable of asking questions of existence since it is not aware that it is alive.

Re: Everything

You do not understand modern technology.. (No offence)

Tell it anyway.

Modern technology? In a hundred years it will be nothing but junk. My computer does not ask questions. I tell it what to do and it does it pronto or else!

Re: Everything

How far in the future?

That is a secret.

Now, why are we avoiding the main question?

Re: Everything

2. An universe is one continuous fabric of space-time.
Define what is a "theory". Einstein said that the universe is one continuous fabric of space-time, what if it is not?

3. Define everything. Also tell me how did you figure out that everything was created.
Everything is something everything... I didn't figure out that everything was created. Where does energy come from if it can't be created nor destroyed?

4. Nothing is indeed something.
You can't have nothing without something. You can't have darkness without light.

5. With respect to what? The concept of time varies from observer to observer.
Time is "change" Time is create by humans. I believe time is not fundamental but rather an illusion.
That's why I asked is time linear?

If we took a vote right now the number one answer would be God, or some form of deity.

The creator of all things I think is the definition given.

Re: Everything

So, the answer to OP's question is like this:

Who created everything?
The creator of all things.

Ofcourse, this is true. But again, that is rather circular, please revise your definition.

'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.'
'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it'

Re: Everything

When we discuss him we will always be led to what you call circular definitions. That is why he is not to be discussed. That is why we can consider it an axiom. If you remember this is what I said is the popular answer.

Re: Everything

The popular answer assumes one more thing. You do not know?

Re: Everything

Know then thyself, presume not God to scan; The proper study of mankind is man.

When St. Thomas Aquinas was asked what was God doing before he created the universe, he quickly answered creating hell for people who ask such questions.

But how does any of what we have been posting exemplify or detract from the viewpoint that I stated it would be the most popular answer?

I think the question was answered right there.

Re: Everything

I believe in a powerful (yet non-omnipotent) intelligent version of God who created everything (except himself). But since this is only based on my belief, I can't endorse this to the OP.

I've not cited theory anywhere. It is out of context. What it is not is a hypothetical question

3. Define everything. Also tell me how did you figure out that everything was created.
Everything is something everything... I didn't figure out that everything was created. Where does energy come from if it can't be created nor destroyed?

The energy was already there.

4. Nothing is indeed something.
You can't have nothing without something. You can't have darkness without light.

Ofcourse we can have nothing. Without something, we would not know that it is nothing. But that does not mean it does not exist.
Your question does not make sense.

5. With respect to what? The concept of time varies from observer to observer.
Time is "change" Time is create by humans. I believe time is not fundamental but rather an illusion.
That's why I asked is time linear?

Something is linear when it, plotted with respect to some other phenomenon follows an equation of the form mx + c.
What are you plotting time to.

Re: Everything

Before what? Are you talking about the following question:

what was God doing before he created the universe?

If so:

'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it'

Einstein once said that time was just natures way of preventing everything from happening all at once.
