Time ZonesI have two time-zone related pages I have been working on recently. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #2 2006-02-10 20:01:45
Re: Time ZonesIt's cool. I've just had a quick skim... on the Earth Orbit page am I meant to be able to move the big Earth? I can fully move it up and down on its axis, like behind the the text and everything. Just seemed a bit weird. #3 2006-02-11 03:38:40
Re: Time ZonesSuperlative work as always. Why did the vector cross the road? It wanted to be normal. #4 2006-02-11 13:29:53

Re: Time ZonesDaylight savings is in the summer, I agree I just heard that, and so in the winter the the sun probably is most direct at noon, while in the summer the noon time comes before the sun is overhead. I wonder if that statement is true. Also there are at least one place on Earth that has their time zone off by 1/2 an hour! Maybe NewFoundland? But that would be tough to show. Re: Time ZonesThank you so much! That is pretty much why I make these things. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #7 2006-02-22 02:53:44
Re: Time ZonesI can't think of a solution to the 365.25 turns and needing a lot of patience to watch it. Imagine for a moment that even an earthworm may possess a love of self and a love of others. #8 2006-03-03 15:05:31
Re: Time ZonesI just discovered the slider control for the speed of orbit and # of rotations in Earth's orbit. Imagine for a moment that even an earthworm may possess a love of self and a love of others. #9 2006-03-03 15:25:47
Re: Time ZonesAlso I did some counting at various speeds of orbit, and the number of rotations is too high by the √ 2 sorry to say. Last edited by John E. Re: Time ZonesA quarter of a year is about 80? That makes only 320 "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #11 2006-03-04 03:07:49
Re: Time ZonesNo, the number wasn't eighty, that's where I got mixed up counting in French. The number was possibly over a hundred. Imagine for a moment that even an earthworm may possess a love of self and a love of others. |
