Re: Article: "Help I Can't Do Mathematics"Awesome article! I will forward this to a few people. 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' 'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it' 'Who are you to judge everything?' Alokananda #5 20140114 21:00:04
Re: Article: "Help I Can't Do Mathematics"Hi MIF; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #6 20140117 08:39:29
Re: Article: "Help I Can't Do Mathematics"Very good article! But, the primary point, as stated there, is that students in math and science often have learning gaps. When I was learning the basics, I sped through trivial things like adding fractions. Then when I was doing more advanced material, those trivial things were what had me stumped. Perhaps, MIF, you should create some sort of an online cumulative examination for people to know what they are missing. I have discovered a truly marvellous signature, which this margin is too narrow to contain. Fermat Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world. Archimedes Young man, in mathematics you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Neumann #7 20140117 17:23:22

Re: Article: "Help I Can't Do Mathematics"Yes, but I was not aware that it has a "placement" or "level of math skill" test. I have discovered a truly marvellous signature, which this margin is too narrow to contain. Fermat Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world. Re: Article: "Help I Can't Do Mathematics"I was just mentioning it because there are almost 9000 math questions there. If you can go through that I would say your fundamentals are fine. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it.
