### Re: Probability problem.

Hi;

There might be a recursion for it...

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.
If you can not overcome with talent...overcome with effort.

I too thought so.

I have a recurrence that he spit out but I do not understand it!

What is that recurrence?

Hi gAr;

It is large and I have not made it post ready yet. I will need some time and then I will post it. Also, I need to eat. See you later.

Oh, not so pleasing to the eyes, is it?!
Summation is much shorter.

### Re: Probability problem.

I did not know there was another way to write the sum!
What method you used to get the sum?

### Re: Probability problem.

It is all mixed up in a routine that I wrote to compute the binomial distribution sums. I can use the function but I can no longer unravel what I did. It works but I forget how. I am sorry, back then I did not believe in documenting anything.

### Re: Probability problem.

New problem:
A point 'P' inside a unit circle is chosen at random.
a) A direction is chosen at random at P and a line is drawn from P to the point in the circumference 'Q' in that direction. What is the expected length of the line segment PQ ?
b)  A direction is chosen at random at the center and a line is drawn from P to the point in the circumference 'Q' in that direction. What is the expected length of the line segment PQ ?

I am getting something around
