Who owns the fish or crocodile

Hi!
I am the newest member I guess.I entered the Maths Is Fun site just 1 and 1/2 hour ago and found the logic puzzles. It was great solving the puzzles.
The answers are German owns the Fish and Hannah owns the Crocodile.
I guess the 2% idea was not correct. Is it?

Re: Who owns the fish or crocodile

Einstein? Ha ha!

But, to do a proper statistical survey, you would have to choose your subjects at random.

But in this case we only know about people who are 1. interested in doing the puzzle, 2. don't give up and go away in the first few minutes, and 3. then go on to report their success or failure. This is probably a rather small percentage of the population, but hard to define!

Re: Who owns the fish or crocodile

That problem came up in a maths competition that I was at today. I was helping mark the questions and get people horribly-watered-down-squashes rather than actually taking part, but I did most of the questions anyway. smile

People got given only 15 minutes to do that question, which I thought would be a very hard task. I didn't time myself when I did that puzzle, but it probably took at least half an hour.

Anyway, most people believe that Einstein said that only 2% of people would get the answer right because they assume that the German owns the fish just because he is the only person who has not been allocated a pet. The fish is not at all mentioned in the clues, so it's equally reasonable to assume that someone not mentioned in the clues owns the fish.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

it must be a myth

it took me 10 mins to complete and a further 30 ppl 30 mins, bt with the population at 6b, 120m is quite a lot of ppl

Typo identified in crocodile riddle:
"go" versus "got" in:
The girl next to the girl who likes Milky bar likes Boost
The girl who likes purple wants to got to Canada
The girl who likes Crunchies owns a rabbit
