Can anyone please explain me formula of histogram defined in this wiki link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histogram

We say that histogram is the counts of observation in bins.

So Let say if bins are from 0 to 179. then what does mean by mi in the formula?

i think n is the counts of observation.

Here is how I see it:

If n is the total number of observations, and k is the number of bins, then mi is the number in each bin or frequency.

**I agree with you regarding the satisfaction and importance of actually computing some numbers. I can't tell you how often I see time and money wasted because someone didn't bother to run the numbers.**

If I am right ( what are the chances ) it is self evident. It says add up what is in each bin and you should have the total number.
