Ooh, I love those!

Well, you can either cross your eyes or make them see almost parallel, like watching behind them.

Please tell what can you see in the stereograms below:

'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.'

'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it'

Hi Agnishom;

**In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.Of course that result can be rigorously obtained, but who cares?Combinatorics is Algebra and Algebra is Combinatorics.**

Hi;

I was talking about your eyesight

It is not as good as yours or mine was. Is that really more of a factor then the 4 I named in the previous post?

Of course that result can be rigorously obtained, but who cares?

I do not understand anything. How do these people help?

I disagree, you do understand. They were all instrumental in teaching me how to be different.

How to avoid this.

But this is a thread about an Autostereogram. I thought you were asking who saw it. I was just giving my answer. I did not intend to go off about unrelated topics...

I just meant to appreciate your eyesight at this age.

I thought you were asking who saw it.

hi Agnishom,

My loft (attic) is a treasure trove of forgotten items. Today I went up to bury (is that the right word for something that is above your head?) some things, and I found my book Eye Tricks by Priester and Levine. This book is full of stereograms (about 200) and it starts with some advice on 'seeing' them.

Draw two small circles about 3.5 cm apart. Get a piece of card and place it between them and then move your face until the card is also between your eyes. Each eye can now only view one circle. Relax your vision until the two circles look like three. At this moment your vision has gone 'parallel' which is what is needed for the stereogram to work. In the book you can then shift the book until the first stereogram comes into view and, hey presto, the 3-D effect works.

It's years since I last tried this but the magic is still there and I tried the first dozen pictures until I was confident I'd 'got my eye in'.

Then I tried yours. So far, the top one remains a complete jumble so I might have to get some more practice from the book. I had more success with the second, but it was not clear exactly what it was. Firstly I thought it was the letters SOS, but I've changed my mind and think it is POS or maybe PO5.

Just tried again without my vari-focals on. The second definitely has a O or circle in the middle. The outer shapes are much less clear. I think I may have made up the stick part of the letter P; more like just a smaller circle above the centre line. The third shape is either an N or an H. I'm definitely getting a 3D image from them, as I move my head there's a proper parallax movement but the images are indistinct. It must depend on whether you have reproduced all the pixels of the originals.

I managed to get to a 3D image from your first picture but it just looked like a surface of sand above the background. I've tried at different zoom levels but there's no improvement I'm afraid.

Also just tried the one on the link. I can 'see' the ABC but it is indistinct, being made up of black and white scribbles. The ones in my book are much better.
