Find out the fallacy'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' 'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it' 'Who are you to judge everything?' Alokananda #2 20130725 01:38:43
Re: Find out the fallacyHi; because it is the principal value. 4 ≠ 5 In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #3 20130725 01:41:25

Re: Find out the fallacyI agree with bobbym in that it is the second line where the problem starts. Last edited by SteveB (20130725 22:27:05) #7 20130726 12:21:57

Re: Find out the fallacyI guess it is better called the principal square root, got my principals wrong again.

So, where does the other root go? 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' 'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it' 'Who are you to judge everything?' Alokananda #10 20130726 14:11:11

You just do not use it. Kaboobly doo! In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #11 20130726 22:19:52
Re: Find out the fallacyYou had 4 4.5 in effect. Last edited by SteveB (20130727 01:27:32) #12 20140307 14:54:35
Re: Find out the fallacyConfusing, very, that is, hmmm. Talk about another one, I shall. Okay, is that? Hah? Differentiating both sides with respect to n, you get Yes, hmmm? Herh , herh 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' Re: Find out the fallacyOh. I did not think of that. 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' Re: Find out the fallacyAnother one: I have discovered a truly marvellous signature, which this margin is too narrow to contain. Fermat Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world. Archimedes Young man, in mathematics you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Re: Find out the fallacyThe thing is, it's kind of hard to notice if you look at it casually. Just looks like simple cancellation of factors. You can use it to prove 64=65 and there is a picture which supports that (except one error one of the lines is not straight). Re: Find out the fallacyCycle through the pics and you'll see the bottom of the large middle piece that moves from LR magically lengthen...no doubt by a total amount equalling 1 extra square of choccy.
