I have three sqaure boards, the surface of the first contaning 5 sq feet more than second, and the second containing 5 sq. feet more than the third. Can you find the exact measurement for the sides of the boards?
Is there anymore to the problem because I am getting multiple solutions?
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
A number by itself is useful, but it is far more useful to know how accurate or certain that number is.
I can only get formulas for their relationships, not a numerical solution without more info as bobbym said.
Side lengths as follows:-
In descending order of board size:
In ascending order of board size:
Any value of x will give the 5 square feet differences between the boards' surface areas as per the puzzle wording.
