They say that recursion is overused. That any time recursion is used it can be replaced by other more common techniques.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it.
All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof.

On the old 8 bit machines I used love to watch recursive calls eat up the stack and crash the machine.
