7% of 9%Can someone please help me?? I'm a Mum trying to help my son with his maths homework, and I'm not much of an Einstein. I just CAN'T figure out how to calculate 7% of 9%. #2 20060208 06:08:26
Re: 7% of 9%Convert the percentages into decimal numbers by dividing by 100. Why did the vector cross the road? It wanted to be normal. #3 20060208 08:19:21

And it's a good thing too. Didn't he fail math? "In the real world, this would be a problem. But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist. So we'll go ahead and do that now..." #5 20060208 18:50:35
Re: 7% of 9%Thank you so much everyone!!!! #6 20060208 19:49:20
Re: 7% of 9%
You multiply the two percentages together because when you see of, as in 1/2 of 20, it is the same as multiplying. So 1/2 of 20 is the same as 1/2 x 20, which equals 10. #8 20060208 21:24:19
Re: 7% of 9%In the same way as before. Just this time it's with fractions. Multiply the numerators (the numbers above the line) together and the denominators (below the line) together, like this: Which can then be simplified as shown above. So, 2/3 of 7/9 equals 2/21.
