similar triangles?

In ,quadrilateral QRTS we have QR = 11,QS = 9 , and ST=2. Sides RQ and  ST are extended past Q and S , respectively, to meet at point P. If  PS=8 and PQ=5, then what is RT?

I see you have graph paper.

Re: similar triangles?

Do you understand why the answer is 18 for the last one?

Re: similar triangles?

yah i get it. you add some extra lengths to 5 and 8 and then you get similar triangles. i did not see that at first.

Re: similar triangles?

Well, for the second problem, I would say the answer is 6.
