Hi;

Okay, thanks for coming in and for the links.

Re: Is this cool with you?

Hi. Consider the following problem:

This is my solution:

LHS is

for all x, y.

RHS is

for all y since
.

Hence LHS = RHS if and only if

and

The second equation gives

; substituting into the first equation gives

Hence the solution set is

.

So my question is: Is my proof okay? Is everyone happy with my proof? roll

Re: Is this cool with you?

New Problem:

Three circles of radius 5,4 and 3 are drawn in that order and in a line touching at one point. E says she wants to draw two tangents. One across the top of the three circles and one along the bottom. She wants the two tangents to intersect a I. How far away is I from the rightmost circle's right side?

A says) Impossible to determine!

B says) You might be right.

C says) A and B agreeing? I am shocked. I is 41 away from the rightmost circle's right side.

D says) I agree with A but not with B. I also like C's answer.

What is your answer?

New problem:

The triangle shown below has sides 20, 22 and n. What is the largest and smallest values that n can take provided that n is a integer?

A says) Incorrect and kaboobly doo, n can only have one value.

B says) That is not correct, n can take...

C says) Hmmm, I have to finally agree with A.

D says) What is finally?

E says) I have the answer.
