Learning Graph TheoryWhat are some good resources for a beginner to get an overview of graph theory? #2 2012-12-27 02:59:35
Re: Learning Graph TheoryHi muxdemux; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #3 2012-12-27 03:58:51
Re: Learning Graph Theory
The part where I become a good computer scientist, mainly. I don't really enjoy theory in mathematics for its own sake. #4 2012-12-27 04:02:33

Re: Learning Graph TheoryI learned graph theory from "Graph Theory and Its Applications" by Yellen and Gross. There is some coding info in it and I found the book very readable. Perhaps your local university library has this one or similar. Last edited by pellerinb (2012-12-27 04:51:36) Prime numbers have got to be the neatest things; they are like atoms. Composites are two or more primes held together by multiplication. In biology, we use math like we know what we are talking about. Sad isn't it. #6 2012-12-27 05:33:51

Re: Learning Graph Theory
It's not really the kind of thing I was looking for, though if it's readable and targets CS students it might be worth a look.
This is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for, though I don't think the page has been updated in 4 odd years - which is a pity. #8 2012-12-27 06:12:36
Re: Learning Graph TheoryLook for that textbook online if you do not already have it. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
