System of linear equations

I've heard that there are 8 ways to solve system of linear equations.is it true ? If it is true what are they?

Re: System of linear equations

hi Sabbir,

Welcome to the forum.

8 ?  hhmm I can 'start the ball rolling' with

(i) simultaneous equations by elimination

(ii) simultaneous equations by substitution

(iii) matrices

(iv) graph (not really suitable beyond 2 unknowns)

(v) spot the answer by inspection and check it works

...........................

Now I've run out for the moment.

Hopefully others can carry on.  smile

Re: System of linear equations

Hi Sabbir;

There are probably more ways than that. Determinants, iteration, over relaxation, sor, Newton - Jacobi are a few more.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
