Difficult algebra manipulation help!Hey all! #2 2012-11-27 08:27:30

Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!Hi;
What do you want to do with that? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #4 2012-11-28 02:18:18

That's the right one! #5 2012-11-28 06:48:43

Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!
I am not entirely sure if I am honest (I mean the terminology, I am not sure if these are simultaneous equations?), but from thw two equations, we need to get an expression for qH and qL, which are contained within both equations. #7 2012-11-28 07:01:36

This is after about 3 pages of derivations #9 2012-11-28 07:11:56
Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!I see two equations, not three. I can solve them but I would like to be sure that is what is wanted before I do. In mathematics, you don't understand things. Apologies! I thought you posted the last response in my other topic! #11 2012-11-28 09:00:37

Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!
Hello bobbym, apologies for delayed reply. Internet going. It's 3am now! #13 2012-11-28 14:02:26
Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!Okay, you want to check their answer? In mathematics, you don't understand things. Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!
No no! I am just letting you know, so you can see and check your result I guess, sorry. #15 2012-11-28 14:18:17
Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!Ypu want to work from their answer to where? In mathematics, you don't understand things. Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!
No where, I want to know how they found the answer. I cannot get it. I did all the work to get to the top two equations in the second link I posted. From then we are meant to 'rearrange/substitute etc' and get expressions for qH and qL (as shown by the bottom two equations, i.e. the official answers). I cannot rearrange/substitute the top two equations to get to those given in the answer book. This is what I am looking for help on, if you can solve this please can you show me how? #17 2012-11-28 14:24:02
Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!I can not guarantee anything here. I will look at it and post if I get something. In mathematics, you don't understand things. Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!
Ok thank you!!! if my objective with this is unclear please ask and i will try and be more direct. #19 2012-11-28 17:55:15

Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!
OH MY LORD you are INCREDIBLE! You teach me on any topic I need help with and you can just solve these kinds of things?! #21 2012-11-29 06:38:39
Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!I didn't get a solution to it. Just because you see an answer in a book that does not mean the author worked it out. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #22 2012-11-29 07:05:50
Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!
But were you able to rearrange/substitute the top two equations to get the same expressions as those posted? #23 2012-11-29 07:08:58
Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!First I must ask a question: would you ask someone how they did it by hand? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #24 2012-11-29 07:41:12
Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!
No of course not! #25 2012-11-29 07:45:48
Re: Difficult algebra manipulation help!Same thing here, we both used a computer but I will show you how you might do it by hand. In mathematics, you don't understand things. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. |
