Formula for equation

You were right about that integral(my brother didn't knnw the solution either,but now he has given me another problem-

make a formula using a and b for x and y.

When the two sides are added together, the left hand side turns out to be (x-y)^3. From there you can get:

Well, you can say that

and then substitute that into the second equation you are given. Then you can get y.
