division

(9x^3 - 3x^2 + 13x - 5)/(3x - 1)

I came up with 3x^2 + -.66/3x-1 and was mark wrong.

Re: division

Hi;

-.66

Did you mean to have that period there?

Re: division

Have you tried multiplying your answer by the divisor to check your work?

Re: division

I think it was right but I wrote it wrong like 3x^2 + 0x - .66/3x-1 and he just marked it wrong because of that.

So you think the answer is:

I am afraid I would mark you wrong too.

Re: division

Hi!

You might write the remainder as -2/3.  The quotient is 3x^2 + 13/3.  smile

Writing "pretty" math (two dimensional) is easier to read and grasp than LaTex (one dimensional).
LaTex is like painting on many strips of paper and then stacking them to see what picture they make.
