House painting3 friends, Alan, Brian and Chester, paint a house. If Alan had to paint it on his own, it would take him one hour more than the time it would take for all three to paint it together. If Brian had to paint it on his own, it would take him five hours more than the time it would take for all three to paint it together, and Chester 8 hours more. #2 2012-10-06 03:47:59
Re: House paintingI got The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #3 2012-10-06 07:39:17
Re: House paintingHi anna_gg; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #4 2012-10-06 22:29:41
Re: House paintingLet A, B and C be the hours needed for each friend to paint the house on his own and D the number of hours needed if they paint all together. Last edited by anna_gg (2012-10-06 22:30:20) #5 2012-10-06 22:32:50
