Could you help me find points from x + y = 0 and 3x + y = -4

I need two points from each problem! If you could show your work that would be great.

x + y = 0 and 3x + y = -4

Re: Could you help me find points from x + y = 0 and 3x + y = -4

For the first equation the line crosses through the origin so you have to guess x and y anything other than 0
Let x = 1

Substitute x by 1

Subtract 1 from both the sides

Now for the other point let x = 2

Substitute x by 2

Subtract 2 from both the sides

So the two points for the equation
is
and

For the second equation you can use intercept...
First point for the equation

Let x be 0
Substitute x by 0

Now for the other point
Let y = 0
Substitute y by 0

So the two points for the equation
is
and

Good Luck

Hi debjit625

Do you suggest graphing the two lines to find the solution?

No ,I did it algebraically ,you dont have to graph those four points.
And what solution your are asking about,I think SlowlyFading asked about two points (coordinates) from the two equations and I show him how.
He asked

I need two points from each problem!

If he asked something else then I don't know...

Good Luck

Hi debjt625

Oh, ok. I should read posts more carefully.

Nice avatar, btw.
