Re: So this is what was happening

What is the exact question?

For your problem, I also got the answer of 35/18.

Re: So this is what was happening

gAr's series can be stated in words. Take two lists of equal lengths of the throw of a single die. Add all the elements inthe first list to get s1. Then add all the elements in the second list to get s2. Now get the absolute value of s1- s2.

Re: So this is what was happening

He is not asking for the average difference, but for the expected sum.

Where does 123456787654321 come in?

Re: So this is what was happening

Well, if the average difference is 35/18, then wouldn't it be logical that the average sum of those would be 123456787654321?

If we throw the dice n times the answer will be n*35/18.

Hi Boby

I do not agree, but it does seem right at first!

Re: So this is what was happening

We had a guest poster who styled himself Boby.

He posted the entire contents, adobe graphics encoding included, from a random pdf.  And just to make sure we noticed, he posted it three times.

I think Stefy is being ironic.

Do you have the means to bar a guest?

Hmm... The only way you could bar a guest is by IP, and that gets you nothing if he gets another computer to work on...
