Yes, If you run linux from the CD you will not disturb Windoze at all. Of course Windoze will not be running at this time.

Yes, you try it from the disk. It does not even touch the hard drive. You will notice superior graphics, screensavers,desktop and icons.

Both the Puppy and the Ubuntu. I will try the Puppy first. I will need your guide on installing it though,because I cannot find a tutorial which says anyrhing about how I can keep Windows next to Linux. I will also need help deinstalling Puppy,because I will do it whether I like it or not,cause if I do,I will install Ubuntu.

You do not have to install them. You try them from the CD or DVD you burn them on. They are iso files meaning they are bootable.

It loads the CD into available ram and I think a file. You should be able to remove it. You need a burner that burns iso files.

The last puppy I burned and ran was puppy 4.21. That was a long time ago. You should have no problem with the newest one. Tell me when it is burned.

Yup. Tried Puupy and liked it. I burned the Ubuntu ISOto a CD and it was tight. The file is 701MB and the CD holds 700MB. I don't know if that will cause problems in booting. I will try botting Linux tomorrow. I have turned a 5 hours' into a three days' work.

Was there any error message when you burned Ubuntu? If not everything will work fine. Puppy uses KDE and Ubuntu uses Gnome so there will be some differences.

No error message. I tried booting it right away,but for some strange reasons, my laptop didn't show me the BIOS screen. I will investigate tomorrow.
What are KDE and Gnome?

They are like front ends for Linux. Each one handles the desktop, icons, screensavers in a different way. They also use different programs. I prefer Gnome.
