Windows or Linux?Hi guys The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #2 2012-06-02 06:12:29
Re: Windows or Linux?Hi; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #3 2012-06-02 06:32:25
Re: Windows or Linux?First I need to know characteristics of both to have my own opinion. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #4 2012-06-02 06:38:11
Re: Windows or Linux? Both are operating systems. Both work. Linux is a little bit more command line oriented. Speed is about the same for common tasks. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #5 2012-06-02 06:46:17
Re: Windows or Linux?
I knew that already.
That,too.
Good to know.
Why go to dislikes immediately? Tell me about Linux's capabilities in regular tasks.Does it have stuff Windows doesn't and vice versa? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #6 2012-06-02 06:48:47
Re: Windows or Linux?
I have used Slax, Puppy 421 and Ubuntu 9. They all support about the same thing as say XP ( the best Windows ). Linux has a few more utilities built in and comes with more programs built in. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #7 2012-06-02 06:59:28
Re: Windows or Linux?I consider an advantage that it's open source. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #8 2012-06-02 07:00:05
Re: Windows or Linux? Now you are dealing with the other things, the dislikes... In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #9 2012-06-02 07:00:55
Re: Windows or Linux? How is that in the dislikes? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #10 2012-06-02 07:02:32
Re: Windows or Linux? Many people dislike Windoze policy of hiding their code. They have good reason too... In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #11 2012-06-02 07:03:31
Re: Windows or Linux? What is that reason? And why did you spell it Windoze? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #12 2012-06-02 07:05:12
Re: Windows or Linux? You do not know? The hackers and crackers coined that phrase. It implies that Windows is slow. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #13 2012-06-02 07:06:09
Re: Windows or Linux?Oh,okay. What is the reason "Windoze" is hiding their code? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #14 2012-06-02 07:08:25
Re: Windows or Linux?Linux is really the work of one man. Windoze is the work of a giant corporation with one man at the head. One guy is a billionaire, the other one is not. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #15 2012-06-02 07:10:04

Re: Windows or Linux?Gates of course. He is the CFO of Micro$loth. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #17 2012-06-02 07:23:08
Re: Windows or Linux?I think people here are just starting to get used to Linux. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #18 2012-06-02 07:28:56
Re: Windows or Linux?Yes it can run right along side of Windoze. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #19 2012-06-02 07:34:50

Re: Windows or Linux?Puppy is the easiest and smallest, around 100MB. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. Re: Windows or Linux?I have not used it in a long time. I do not even know if they have continued it. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. I am willing to wager that over 75% of the new words that appeared were nothing more than spelling errors that caught on. #23 2012-06-02 07:55:01
