Re: ">" in LaTeX?

I figured out a way to do it by guessing.

It's funny because I inserted a space.    I used backslash, space, greater-than-sign.

It works on this LaTex practicer (http://www.artofproblemsolving.com/LaTeX/AoPS_L_TeXer.php), but not here.

Re: ">" in LaTeX?

Okay, I found one way in this pdf:
www.bitjungle.com/~isoent/isoent-ref.pdf

\textgreater

\textless

Re: ">" in LaTeX?

I *think* it may have something to do with the forum software converting < and > because they are html characters. It is common to be very cautious of those characters.

The *possibility* exists that someone could insert malicious code using those characters. For example "<script language=javascript>(...nasty code...)</script>", so no chances are taken. (Yes, I know it is inside a math tag, but there may be ways to force it to display and execute.)

So let's use \textgreater and \textless for the time being smile

Re: ">" in LaTeX?

I was also thinking who Rod was, because I saw the name in another topic before. I guess I wasn't brave enough to ask.

Anyway, since it's answered now, I thank you. smile

Re: ">" in LaTeX?

Why you have to be "brave" to ask someone's name?

Re: ">" in LaTeX?

Why?

You say that the first thing you do when someone ask for your name is to hit him?

Re: ">" in LaTeX?

That's good, because a lot of people don't really understand what I'm saying usually. I don't know why.

Most of you won't understand what I'm usually saying.

Understand this!

The rod that kills brains in real life, and the rod that can cast magic to heal in fantasy.

How did you do that, krazzi?
