Re: no. of combination

Hi anonimnystefy;

Very nice gf! Clever use of the exponential one without having to be told about it. Excellent!

Re: no. of combination

Are you kidding me? It would seem that the x^2 should be divided by 2 which I of course forgot to do.

Not really that gf is the correct answer.

Re: no. of combination

How can that be possible? Don't we discard the repetitions of the same letter? I.e. I1,I2 is the same as I2,I1 because it is te same letter. I just put 1 amd 2 so you can see I have reversed the order.

Re: no. of combination

This is much easier when you have counted them up already. For one thing you need to come up with an answer of 136.

It is exactly like the ones that say arrangements or permutations of the letters except it says combinations.

Yeah,okay. Using GFs this problem becomes easy as hell.

Re: no. of combination

Generally they simplify all combinatorics problems. Often computing the coefficient, which is either a computational or analytic problem is the tough part.

Re: no. of combination

I find it much easier to compute general terms for some infinite than for some finite sequences. That is kinda counter-intuitive.

That is because you do not think simultaneously.
