What's next

Can you complete this series of numbers?  You'll know when that happens if you solve the problem correctly

1

11

21

1112

3112

211213

312213

Re: What's next

Uhmm... I think I've heard this one before. I don't remember if this is right, but it has something to do with speaking it out loud.
I'm going to guess..

212223?

http://www.nerur.com/puzzles/

Whooops!  That site doesn't have the answer either, but they pose the same problem.

Re: What's next

I agree with Andrea.

The first number in the sequence has one 1. That's 11.
The next has two 1's. That's 21.
Next, we have one 1 and one 2. 1112.
Time time we have three 1's and one 2. 3112.

And so on...

Re: What's next

So the series ends with 21322314?  You guys are good!  I would have never have seen that relationship.  A math problem that does not use math...hmm.

Re: What's next

That's what I get. From where ellmp left off, you just need 5 more iterations and then it starts repeating itself.

Here's another one:

2,3,10,12,13,20,21,?

Hi;

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
