Re: Small letters after tagsOkay, I did not know I was supposed to read it. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #27 2012-04-25 00:38:47
Re: Small letters after tagsThe text in that picture I posted. The one with the ugly people. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #28 2012-04-25 00:51:26
Re: Small letters after tagsYes, I see that. But it is not clear whether you should read the text or look at the pictures or possibly both. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #29 2012-04-25 00:52:38
Re: Small letters after tagsI think you can just read the text here. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #30 2012-04-25 00:54:50
Re: Small letters after tagsYou want me to read all the text in post #29? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #31 2012-04-25 00:56:18
Re: Small letters after tagsNo. I want you to read all the text in the picture in the post #23. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #32 2012-04-25 01:06:57
Re: Small letters after tagsDerpina? Asymptotes? Most puzzling. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #33 2012-04-25 01:08:12
Re: Small letters after tagsDerpina is a name used in comics like that one. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #34 2012-04-25 01:09:17
Re: Small letters after tagsHmmmm. Why is she being difficult? She is really funny looking. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #35 2012-04-25 01:11:27
Re: Small letters after tagsWhy do you think she is difficult? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #36 2012-04-25 01:13:49
Re: Small letters after tagsMr potato head is obviously interested in a gruesome girl. She on the other hand begins to blather about infinity. Mr potato head is now sad. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #37 2012-04-25 01:15:33
Re: Small letters after tagsThe point is that she told him he is just a friend to her and that is all he will ever be. She just said it using math. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #38 2012-04-25 01:18:40
Re: Small letters after tagsHmmmm. Such stereotypes are in direct conflict with modern concepts. To break away from them the author of that meme as you call it must free his mind from them. Mr potato head should be telling gargoyle girl that he just wants to be friends. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #39 2012-04-25 01:20:20
Re: Small letters after tagsThe guy wants to be more than just friends. He wants her as his girlfriend. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #40 2012-04-25 01:27:53
Re: Small letters after tagsHmmmm. It is culturally obsolete to always assume that the guy wants more but the girl wants less. Mr Meme, is caught up in this paradigm. To expand his consciousness he must rise above it. He must get in touch with his feminine side, the child within. The guy should be saying he just wants to be friends, then it would be funnier. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #41 2012-04-25 01:48:52
Re: Small letters after tagsYou think so? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #42 2012-04-25 01:56:51
Re: Small letters after tags
Hmmmm! You do make a convincing argument. Okay, it is funny. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #43 2012-04-25 02:01:53
Re: Small letters after tagsThank you. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #44 2012-04-25 02:11:54
Re: Small letters after tagsHmmm. gAr is from India. I had a friend from India whom I used to play chess with. Eventually we were on the same team representing our company. He was a very serious guy so I respected that and did not joke with him much. Since he was the only Indian guy I knew well when I met ganesh and gAr I used him as my template for them as well. So I rarely joke with them but here I was. I do not believe there is much of anything that gAr can not do. He is in my opinion along with Jane the best mathematician on this forum. You may tell him what I said as long as you include all the rest. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #45 2012-04-25 02:16:33
Re: Small letters after tagsWell didn't someone take it too seriously. I know that at the time you probably thought that the problem was found on a site of a mathematician wannabe. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #46 2012-04-25 02:24:26
Re: Small letters after tagsNot exactly. I am familiar with what you work on. It was not hard to figure the author of the sum. But gAr does not mind using a package. Sage could have spit that out. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #47 2012-04-25 08:15:48

Re: Small letters after tagsI thnk that kind of comics is called Rage Comics 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' 'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it' 'The whole person changes, why can't a habit?' -65 #50 2012-07-12 17:05:57
