Re: Is this cool with you?

Thanks! That's a good problem and a good file.
But I could not find those two formulas in oeis, can I submit it?

Is this your first submission there?

Yes, is it possible to submit?

Yes, they have submission forms to enter information.

Re: Is this cool with you?

Okay, I'll check that.
Did you try the second formula?

Yes, I think it is about time that you publish over there. Do not enter the second formula as it was already found by Dennis Walsh.

Okay, thanks for checking, I missed that!
I'll request an account there.

Yes, if you can not get through with your submission then email Neil Sloane. He is a good man and he is honest!

It will be accepted if it is new. I am going to get some sleep, see you later and thanks for working on the problem.

New problem:

A 20 sided die is thrown 36 times. What is the probability that on the last time the 5th occurrence of the side marked11 occurs?

Hi;

Sorry for the wait but the method I was looking at in the book was not even close.

It's okay, what was the method in the book?

Re: Is this cool with you?

Hi;

He used a series.

Gibberish! First of all he is solving the wrong problem and then he does not even get the right answer to that. Book has been correct up to here as far as I have checked so at first I did not believe he was wrong.

But his answer does not fit for your answer or a computer simulation.

Re: Is this cool with you?

Hi,

Okay, I thought it was complicated before trying, but it's only simple permutations with repetitions.

Now I'm trying the other problem on expectation. I know a bloated, direct way of doing it, but trying for a recurrence. And I think you have posed a similar problem a few months ago, but unable to recall it.

I'll take a break, see you later.

Re: Is this cool with you?

New Exercise and harder:

How many ways can the letters t,t,m,m,m,m,c,c,s,s be permuted with no adjacent letters the same?

A says) Impossible to compute.

B says) Their is a way that does not require a recurrence.

C says) Baffling!

D says) It sure is.

E says) I saw the solution but cannot remember it.

Can you find a method that does not use a recurrence or the standard casework way?
