Happy New Year!In an effort to revive my grey matter and hoping to somehow delay the signs of ageing (and the Alzheimers' disease who is definitely on the way!!!), I have recently joined your team! #2 2012-01-12 22:03:54

Re: Happy New Year!Welcome Anna. Definitely a good idea to keep your brain challenged. I have known people in their 90s to be more alert than people in their 20s because they stay interested. Re: Happy New Year!Hi anna_gg; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #5 2012-01-13 00:18:09
Re: Happy New Year!@MathIsFun: Thanks for your comforting and inspiring words! Fortunately, I am not in my 90s yet!! #6 2012-01-13 00:28:21
Re: Happy New Year!
I have heard that life only gets interesting when you hit 95. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #7 2012-01-21 07:09:03
