Re: Plane Shapes

And after 7 years from orig post, worksheet is still going strong. I had the right idea (simply put) but my husband insisted it was the more complicated (polygon, quads, ect). I wikipedia'd "plane shapes" and there wasnt an existence so I googled and found my way here. Wooohoo! Thanks!

Re: Plane Shapes

Ok this worksheet has once again reared its ugly head 6 years later.  I can't say my 7 year old or myself would ever have gotten these answers on our own.
Did anyone ever hand the homework in and get different responses back???
My daughter was not even taught was a polygon is yet.
This is 2nd grade math?  I'm doomed  LOL

Welcome to the forum! You are not doomed. You have not even met me yet, no one gets away from that.

Re: Plane Shapes

Hi;

Good point.

I can not say. I have never seen the sheet they are talking about.

What is important is that the answers given right or wrong can provide useful clues as to what the correct answer is. I am sure that you have had the experience of being told something and then knowing it was correct.
Do you like the answers given? Do they have the ring of truth to them? Sometimes a wrong answer is more valuable than a right one.

Re: Plane Shapes

hi lovemigirlz3

Welcome to the forum!

Many posts ago I said I don't think there is one 'right' answer.  The pupil is just expected to think about common features and come up with some rules that classify the shapes into sets.  The worksheet has changed over the years as well,  so the post 22 answer may no longer work.

Describe your shapes and I'll give my opinion (I have never seen the worksheet either).  It probably breaks copyright so obviously I'm not suggesting that someone scan it and post it here.  shame

Re: Plane Shapes

The questions are exactly how they were described back in 2005.  I find this very comical.  I'm waiting to see how her homework comes back tomorrow afternoon.  I will be happy to post the document if allowed.

Re: Plane Shapes

Hi;

If you are allowed then post it. But do not do anything that is against a copyright.

At least post how her answers did.

Re: Plane Shapes

To avoid copyright problems maybe you could make your own, similar shapes.
